Antony, who was born to Jewish parents, later lived with his American stepfather, who was also a Jew and was born in Poland. Blinken, too, turned out to be a Judaism follower. He and his wife Evan Ryan married in a bi-denominational ceremony, with him being Jewish and her being an Irish Catholic.

After his Jewish parents divorced and his mother, Judith (Frehm), married Polish-American Holocaust survivor and powerhouse lawyer Samuel Pisar, Antony John Blinken, also known as Tony Blinken, moved to Paris as a teen. He was a director at E. M. Warburg Pincus & Company and one of its founders. He was also the chairman of the State University of New York’s board of trustees from 1978 to 1990, as well as the American Ambassador to Hungary from 1994 to 1998.
