Lisa Salters was born on March 6, 1966 with the sun sign Pisces in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, and it was there that she was raised throughout her childhood. She was raised a Christian by her parents, although there is no information about her parents or if she has any siblings. The former college basketball player has American citizenship and belongs to African American descent. For her high school education, Lisa attended King of Prussia Upper Merion High School and she was inducted into the School’s Hall of Fame. After high school, she attended Pennsylvania State University, where she studied broadcast journalism. She obtained her baccalaureate in 1988.
At Penn State, she played for the women’s basketball team – The Lady Lions – despite her not too tall height. In fact, she became the shortest player to ever play for the University women’s basketball team. Her height was/is 1.57m and she still holds the record to this day.

Lisa Salters began her journalism career in 1988 as a reporter for WBAL-TV in Baltimore after graduating from college. She worked there for seven years – between 1988 and 1995 – before being recruited by ABC in 1995 as a correspondent.
